New publications for VISION 2020: The Right to Sight are published each year, including materials from the World Health Organization, the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness and its members.

Many publications can be downloaded from this site, and others may be requested by emailing communications@v2020.org. Links are also provided to other sources of published material on the subject of avoidable blindness, its prevention and treatment.


The VISION 2020 Action Plan, 2006-2011

Action Plan 2006-11 coverThe VISION 2020 Action Plan can be accessed on the World Health Organization website or downloaded from the link on this page.

This document is the result of many months of research, consultation and revision, by the WHO Prevention of Blindness and Deafness team, with input from many leading figures within International Agency for the Prevention of Blindnesss member organisations and executive.

The Action Plan recognises achievements and milestones in the implementation of the VISION 2020 Global Initiative, and points up some of the challenges now facing the programme worldwide.

French, Spanish, and Arabic translations of the document are also available.

State of the World's Sight


 The State of the World's Sight, VISION 2020: The Right to Sight 1999-2005

A World Health Organization report on blindness as a global public health issue, its impact on lives and communities, and the first 6 years of the global joint initiative.


 

VISION 2020 video download (40MB mp4 file) 

The VISION 2020 promotional video was first screened at the World Ophthalmology Congress in Berlin, and this initial version thus contains a short 'insert' addressing ophthalmologists about their role, and the contribution of the International Congress of Ophthalmology to VISION 2020.

The video, also with a longer version narrated in French, Arabic, Portuguese and Spanish, will be made available to all IAPB member organisations in time for World Sight Day, or can be requested from the IAPB London office by emailing communications@VISION2020.org.
